Description:Ensures CNA staff and cart nurses are on the unitsCompletes the day shift assignments for on coming shiftAdminister medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit, as ordered by the physician and within scope of license if not an assigned cart nurse.Receives and delivers a variety of information regarding the residents’ medical, social, functional and other needsParticipates in the receiving and giving of shift reports.Communicates with residents, family and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary teamPerforms the initial admission nursing assessments on a newly admitted resident; assists with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews and care plansIn the event of an emergency guides and directs the staff.Maintains appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, assessments, treatment and summary of client progressLeads and performs supervision of subordinate staff and assists as needed with direct resident care for the completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene and mobilityConducts and participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff and other duties as assigned.Utilizes AMS concepts and tools for problem solving and continuous work/process improvements and efficiency other duties as assigned, as related to the position.Knowledge of Gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practicesResidents’ condition and changing medical/physical/psychological care needsEffects of the aging processPractices and procedures of team nursingPractices and procedures of developing treatment plans for resident/patient carePractices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines client laws, rules and regulations governing general professional nursing practices and the security and control of medical supplies and medications and dispensing there ofProfessional nursing methods and techniquesObserving and assessing behavior and progress of patientsApplying and interpreting client laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices Developing and carrying out patient care plans within a team nursing conceptEffective oral and written communicationBuilding interpersonal relationships Ability to:Learn, implement and monitor AMS methods, and to use AMS concepts and tools for problem solving and continuous work/process improvement and efficiency.Requirements:1-2 years of supervising experience.Active RN License in AZNotes:Schedule:Night Shift, working 12-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
