Safety Analyst
Entry level position into the safety profession. Understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge of those principles to comply with regulatory agency and company standards for injury and illness reporting requirements necessary to document incidents.
Duties:
Works with employees and assists supervisors and others on injury prevention by identifying and correcting potential safety and health hazards as well as identifying unsafe actions in order to eliminate on the job injuries and illnesses. Assists in developing recommendations for safety processes/programs to attain and sustain a hazard free workplace. This includes design and evaluation of components to monitor effectiveness. Conducts audits to verify compliance to required regulations and company policies and then assures management is aware of items identified for proper and corrective actions. Develops, directs and may conduct safety presentations and training. Analyzes appropriate Environmental Health Safety (EHS) functional reporting metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Reviews new products, equipment, processes and facilities for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards; making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction. Communicates and works with safety equipment suppliers.
Position Overview:
As a Safety Analyst, you will assist the Safety Lead in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating health and safety management programs and processes to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations, and standards at a complex Foundry facility.
In addition, you will:
Analyze appropriate health and safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement
o Research and document best practices for implementation
Generation of weekly, monthly and annual statistical graphs and scorecard KPI’s
o Notifications to supervisors to meet their safety KPI’s
o Weekly presentation of safety metrics during leadership meeting
Conduct, incident investigations, and ergonomic evaluations
Assist in corrective action development and ensure follow-up
Utilize Cority software to manage
o Near Miss and Injury data management
? Corrective Actions
? 300, 300A, BLS Survey
Conduct periodic inspections, risk assessment
o Powered Industrial Trucks Audits (Daily Inspections Checks)
o SEAMS Scheduling and Facilitation (Graphs, Past Due Reports)
o LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical JSA floor verification of usage PPE Program Management floor audits, Eye Injury reduction program eyeglasses/ goggles usage
Develop and deliver safety education and track training completion for employees
What Skills You Need
1 or more years of experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
o Strong skill set in creating spreadsheets, pivot tables, and slide presentations.
o Conducting investigations to determine root cause and trends analysis
o Applying governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs, and ergonomic principles in the workplace
o Implementing occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic principles for an organization or business unit
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with both salary and wage personnel while managing conflict resolution
The ability to work independently.
What Makes You Stand Out
OSHA 30 hour training in General Industry or Construction Safety
Experience working in manufacturing or factory environment
Experience working with collective bargaining units
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Kinesiology, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related discipline
o Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
o Non-safety bachelor’s degree: a recognized safety certification or certificate will be accepted. 3 or more years of experience as an Occupational Health and Safety professional in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Notes:
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm; Occasional Overtime Anticipated)
This is a fully onsite role with travel limited to intra-facility using personal vehicle use for nearby facilities (within 20 mile radius).
Must be fully comfortable working onsite in a factory setting and with occasional travel between facilities.
