POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • This role will serve as a "swing-shift" safety professional to support the client distribution center. This is a 24-7 operation, and this role will support the 1st shift Safety team, as well as provide coverage for half of the 2nd shift operation. The position will complete accident, incident, and near miss investigations and work with appropriate parties to develop and implement corrective actions. This role will help develop the client Required and OSHA compliance training as well as deploy all required training to the 2nd shift operation. This role will also support the management of mobile equipment certifications and certification tracking. This role will also serve as a general resource for risk identification, auditing, and control to the 2nd shift client operation.

  • Entry level position into the safety profession. Understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge of those principles to comply with regulatory client and company standards for injury and illness reporting requirements necessary to document incidents.

Duties:

  • Works with employees and assists supervisors and others on injury prevention by identifying and correcting potential safety and health hazards as well as identifying unsafe actions in order to eliminate on the job injuries and illnesses.
  • Assists in developing recommendations for safety processes/programs to attain and sustain a hazard free workplace.
  • This includes design and evaluation of components to monitor effectiveness.
  • Conducts audits to verify compliance to required regulations and company policies and then assures management is aware of items identified for proper and corrective actions.
  • Develops, directs and may conduct safety presentations and training.
  • Analyzes appropriate Environmental Health Safety (EHS) functional reporting metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Reviews new products, equipment, processes and facilities for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards; making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction.
  • Communicates and works with safety equipment suppliers.

SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge and experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment with a strong safety background is required
  • Safety Degree and/or very strong manufacturing safety experience
  • MS Office suite
  • CSP accreditation preferred

Notes:

This is an Onsite, 2nd Shift position. Hours are Mon-Fri 2:30PM-11:30PM

This position will be on the shop floor about 50% of the time

Metatarsals are required from day one

Position requires driving. Drives a Cushman around the warehouse. Its battery powered, and resembles a golf cart
