DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILITIES

Client is seeking a full-time SAS Data Management developer to work with our client.

The Data Analytics team manages the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), The Meter Data Management (MDM) and Big Data Analytics (BDAP) systems; builds dynamic informational dashboards; performs deep dive analysis; programs mathematical models for forecasting; and implements process improvement automation. The Data Engineer is familiar with big data concepts including data lakes and data warehouse design with an awareness of system performance as solutions are developed. This position will design, develop, and support ETL jobs for large data feeds and complex data warehouse transactions. The Data Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting system security, system performance, ETL job errors, data analysis, validation, and identifying data quality issues. This position utilizes numerous SAS Data management products including Data Integration Studio 4.9 and Data Flux Data Management Studio 2.8 for data quality which operate on a Windows and Linux/UNIX platforms. Client has Viya environments as well.

QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required and equivalent work experience required.
• At least 3-5 years of SAS Programming and 3-5 years of SQL
• Experience developing reports and content with SAS 9.4 and\or Viya including:
• 3+ years of SAS\SQL programming, data architecting and technical design.
• Be proficient in Base SAS programming (DATA step), SQL programming (i.e., use of SQL pass-through or PROC SQL), as well as the SAS Macro language for use in making code more efficient.
• Integrate and transform disparate data sources, determining the appropriate data hygiene techniques to be applied
• Develop and launch extremely efficient and reliable SAS Data Integration Studio jobs to move data across platforms including data warehouse and online caches, and to provide intuitive analytics to stakeholders
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
• Make large-scale and complex data more discoverable and easier to use for system users
• Collaborate with the team to discover the best solutions to operationalize insights and algorithms
• Contribute to shared Data Engineering tooling & standards to improve the productivity and quality of output for other system users
• Improve data quality by using & improving tools to automatically detect issues
• Build data models to deliver insightful analytics while ensuring the highest standard in data integrity
• Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for business processes that depend on it
• Collaborate with developers, subject matter experts and business users in gathering and documenting requirements for data extraction and transformation
• Develop and improve MS-SQL Server processes as needed
• Perform code reviews, analyze execution plans, improve ETL jobs efficiencies, correct ETL defects and respond quickly to fixes and enhancement requests
• Follow design standards for ETL processes
• Analyze, assess and implement changes to existing solutions in response to business changes
• Maintain system security and user permissions
• Good written and spoken communications skills in English and thought-leadership skills.
