Position Summary
We are seeking a Microbiologist with experience in Research and Development. You will be a key contributor and critical to the success of the company. As part of the Microbiology team, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and testing both instruments and consumables to support the company’s product lines. You will be responsible for executing protocols and writing reports. As part of the Microbiology team, you will help build up toward the commercial readiness of our products and will execute laboratory functions.

Primary Duties
1. Perform microbiological testing to support ongoing study protocols as well as testing of new instruments, AST panels, and consumables.
2. Daily data analysis for completed assays.
3. Perform initial inspection of incoming consumables.
4. Process biological specimen samples using aseptic techniques and lab safety protocols.
5. Coordinating with other teams and departments
6. Create and present reports on conducted experiments, and failure investigations.
7. Participation in regular lab operations included running experiments, maintenance, cleaning, and routine tests.
8. Perform other duties and projects related to lab and department operations as requested by management.

Training and Education
Minimum education and/or training requirements for this position (i.e., high school diploma, college degree, and/or certification).
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for the role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge, special skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job functions (e.g., negotiation, technical writing, statistical evaluation).
1. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, good documentation practices (GDP), and good laboratory practices (GLP).
2. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
3. Strong focus and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize accuracy while following best practices in a fast-paced industrial laboratory environment.
4. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in task priority and able to work under time constraints.
5. Good organizational skills, communication, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently (after training) to complete assigned tasks
7. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and FDA Quality System Regulations is advantageous.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
Ability to operate heavy machinery.
Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Lifting (up to 50 lbs) laboratory equipment and supplies and moving containers of various materials.
Work involves performing computer applications and standing for extended periods of time.
May be exposed to and require the handling of antibiotics and other hazardous materials.
May be exposed and require the handling of body fluids and potentially infectious biohazardous materials.
May be exposed to odors incurred during media preparation and frozen panel production.
Lab work is performed wearing safety glasses and lab coat and following standard BSL2 safety guidelines. Excellent personal hygiene required.
Reasonable, reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential job function required for this position.

Notes:
Work evenings (2:30pm to 11:00pm) Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and AM shift (10:00am to 7:00pm) Saturday and Sunday.
