Role Definition
• The Scrum Master/Kanban Lead is a full-time role who assists the agile team in meeting delivery goals. Scrum Masters help agile teams coordinate and participate in Agile Release Trains (ARTs) events.
• Be a servant leader of an agile team. Coach teams on agile values, principles, and framework, navigate the conflict, and support the team in problem- solving and decision-making.
• Should have a solid knowledge of SAFe, strong facilitation skills with a servant leadership management style, and good business acumen to engage business leaders.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate PI planning - work with other Scrum Masters/Kanban Leads, RTEs, and the agile team to ensure a successful event
o Prepare for PI planning: help the team and the Product Owner identify team local stories, maintenance, defects, tech debt, and other work the team needs to accomplish during the upcoming PI.
Draft PI plans: facilitate the team in creating a draft PI plan for the PI’s iterations, writing draft PI Objectives, and identifying program risks and issues. Help the team determine their capacity and communicate the constraint with the RTE. They also help the team set up their digital or physical planning areas.
o Coordinate with other teams: secure subject matter experts (SMEs) and program stakeholders and foster communication with other teams to determine how to collaborate on feature development and resolve dependencies
o Create team PI objectives: ensure the objectives are written before the draft plan review and that a proper mix of committed and uncommitted goals are present
o Revise final plans and business value: facilitate business stakeholders and team during business value assignments. Before the final review, help ensure PI objectives are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound, and are written in a way everyone can understand.
• Support iteration execution – assist the Product Owner and team to review the user stories at the top of the team backlog, iteration planning, facilitate daily stand-up to coordinate the daily work, host iteration review and iteration retrospective to ensure the team receives feedback to improve the solution under development and address problems at the Inspect & adapt event
• Improve flow – Optimize the working flow by refining the process on Kanban, reducing/adding WIP limits, splitting steps, adding buffers, and redefining workflow states
• Build high-performing teams – resolve conflict and foster collaboration on the team. Help the team to pay attention to results, encourage discussion of disagreements and commitment, and clarify accountability
