The Senior Business Analyst (Consultant) will play a critical role in supporting transformational technology initiatives within client, focusing on a portfolio of 10 high-profile district projects in which client plays a central role. This individual will collaborate closely with business leaders, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects align with client’s strategic priorities and directly contribute to improving education outcomes across the district. In addition to managing complex requirements and overseeing technical implementations, the Senior Business Analyst will be a key driver in improving operational efficiency, enhancing business processes, and promoting continuous improvement in technology solutions
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
Advanced Requirements Management:
Act as a strategic partner to business units by eliciting, analyzing, prioritizing, and documenting complex business requirements for high-impact client projects that contribute to client’s mission.
Ensure solutions are not only technically sound but also align with client’s broader goals,including the 5-Year Plan and other strategic initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
Serve as a key point of contact between business units and client project teams, ensuring that stakeholder needs are met while aligning projects with client's district-wide objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with client leadership and business units, facilitating ongoing communication and problem-solving.
Solution Evaluation & Strategic Alignment:
Work with the application, information security, infrastructure, and architecture teams to conduct appropriate evaluation of technology platforms, ensuring they drive value for client, support efficiency and security, and align with the district’s strategic goals.
Provide recommendations that are both practical and future-forward, supporting client's continuous learning and innovation goals.
Business Case Development & Decision Support:
Facilitate creation of detailed business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and options evaluations to support strategic decision-making at client.
Project Oversight & Operational Efficiency:
Engage leadership on validating and approving requirements to ensure satisfaction and value delivery.
Monitor testing and validation processes to ensure that all solutions meet agreed-upon requirements and are thoroughly vetted before implementation.
Continuous Improvement & Documentation:
Own the documentation of critical business processes, requirements, and lessons learned, ensuring that client benefits from ongoing process improvements and knowledge transfer.
Other Expectations
Complete onboarding and training, including any certification requirements, with the goal of achieving business analysis certification if not already achieved.
Participate in weekly check-ins with the Manager, IT Business Partnership to report on progress,challenges, and accomplishments.
Provide weekly progress reports on all projects, including time spent, challenges encountered,and status updates.
Establish strong relationships with business units to enhance collaboration and ensure alignment with client-specific tools and practices.
Type of Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Type and Years of Experience
5+ years of experience in business analysis, preferably within the public sector or large institutions.
5+ years of experience in information technology, preferably within the public sector or large institutions.
Experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in developing business cases, conducting feasibility studies, and facilitating project documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business terms.
Very strong writing abilities
Very strong ability to create presentations with a quality design
Expertise in Excel or Google Sheets
Expertise in business analysis tools (e.g., process modeling, requirements documentation,project management software).
Ability to handle competing priorities and ensure on-time project delivery.
Familiarity with IT project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
Preferred
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent certification.
