Job Description: Senior EngineerTypical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Responsibilities include the engineering, start up and tuning of combustion/boiler control systems for power plants. Deep knowledge of combustion/boiler control applications. Hands-on experience tuning boiler related control loops, logic, control valves, sensors and tuning of controls.Maintain the clients suite of distributed control system (DCS) hardware and software. Handle customer questions about the state of the client system.Handle customer service-related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on-site. Deal directly with, and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and the client personnel in support of service operations.Troubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Training on the client products and services will be provided; however, a basic understanding of computer networks, computer software(operating systems) and DCS systems (architecture, project engineering and HMI/graphic creation) is required for the training to be beneficial. Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction. Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs.Accurately document the work that is performed at a customer facility and/or project staging area. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks. Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts. Often work non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.Perform field service operations that may involve unusual problems requiring strong technical skills. Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and procedures. Record, compile and reduce data for analysis and assist in related assessment and preparation of reports. Construct prototype models, as request.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field preferred.Comments for the Suppliers: Physical and work location is customer site1 year contract with possibility of extension and possibility of full-time conversion based on performance.Must have Boiler Tuning Experience of at least 5 years. Experience with tuning boiler tuner (large boilers) not small boilers.5+ years of experience required (nothing below 5 years). 10+ years of experience would be even better and considered excellent.Travel is required as the work will be done anywhere in the US as needed. Any previous client engineering experience is a big plus. Candidates must be willing to travel at any time.Candidates Must Have:• Client DCS controls experience – Harmony, Symphony and 800xA platforms.• Currently active with hands on experience with PID controls• Knows what’s a fuel/air curve• Knows the difference between critical and supercritical and can tune both• Ability to work independently at customer sitesVIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
