Senior IT Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

OPTION I

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in computer science, information systems, management, business administration, or closely related field to the assignment.
Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred.

Experience:

Five years of project management experience with two of those years at the level of a project lead or supervisor over multiple significant and complex technology projects.

OPTION II

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in computer science, information systems, management, business administration, or closely related field to the assignment.
(Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on the basis of one year of full-time experience equaling 30 semester or 45 quarter units of the required education).
Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred.

Experience:

Five years of project management experience with two of those years at a level that is comparable to an IT Project Manager with the client .

Desired Skills and Work Experience:

Desired 10+ year of project management experience, preferred experience in government and healthcare, and a PMP certification preferred


Examples of Duties

Project Planning and Management:

Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, outlining tasks, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
Coordinate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure resources are allocated effectively and project activities are aligned with the overall strategy.

Stakeholder Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including department heads, IT teams, and external vendors.
Facilitate regular status meetings and communications to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and issues.


Risk Management:

Identify potential risks to the project’s success and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting plans as necessary to address emerging challenges.

Resource Coordination:

Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel, technology, and budget, to ensure the project remains on track.
Collaborate with the client IT Executive Team to address any resource gaps or challenges that may arise.

Execution and Delivery:

Lead the execution of project tasks, ensuring that deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
Monitor project progress and performance, making adjustments as necessary to meet project goals.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, project logs, and change requests.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status, key achievements, and any deviations from the plan.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all project deliverables meet the quality standards set by the client IT.
Conduct post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement.

Handover and Transition:

Prepare a detailed handover plan to ensure a smooth transition to the full-time Senior IT Project Manager upon their onboarding.
Support knowledge transfer activities and provide training as needed to ensure continuity.

Expected Outcomes:

Timely and successful completion of key project milestones.
Effective management of project risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
Comprehensive project documentation and reporting.
A well-prepared transition plan for the incoming full-time Senior IT Project Manager
