Sr. Software Cloud test engineer

Position Summary

The client is looking for a hands-on Senior Software Test Engineer with extensive experience in cloud testing, test automation, and medical device verification and validation. This contract-to-hire position requires a strong technical leader who can contribute individually while coordinating and guiding engineering activities across cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in testing applications hosted on Microsoft Azure, developing automated test solutions using Python, and validating embedded medical device software. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong collaboration, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Lead verification and validation activities for cloud-connected medical device systems.
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and test cases.
Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and scripts using Python.
Perform testing of Microsoft Azure cloud applications, services, APIs, and infrastructure.
Validate embedded software used in regulated medical device products.
Execute functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
Collaborate closely with software, systems, DevOps, cybersecurity, and quality engineering teams.
Analyze defects, perform root cause analysis, and drive issue resolution.
Support CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to other test engineers while remaining hands-on with technical work.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, requirements reviews, and release readiness activities.
Create and maintain documentation required for regulated product development.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, verification and validation, or related fields.
Strong experience testing cloud-based applications and services hosted on Microsoft Azure.
Proven expertise in test automation methodologies and frameworks.
Strong programming experience in Python. Python experience is required.
Hands-on experience testing embedded medical devices and embedded software.
Experience working within regulated product development environments.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Verification & Validation (V&V) processes.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical activities and effectively manage engineering efforts while contributing as an individual contributor.
Strong teamwork, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Azure Certification (Azure Administrator, Azure Developer, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent).
Experience with cloud-native architectures, REST APIs, and microservices.
Knowledge of FDA-regulated medical device development.
Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and other medical device standards.
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Prior experience leading or mentoring technical engineering teams.
