Sourcing Advisor:
Job Purpose:
This position will participate in category management around the identification, development, and execution of the sourcing and procurement process. Key areas of focus will include needs analysis, sourcing options, decision support, negotiation support, and contract oversight. Additional focus includes cost reduction strategies, category strategies, supplier risk mitigation, and management. Business relationship development and management will be critical to the role to better align business objectives and procurement outcomes. This position will assist in leveraging market research and performing total cost analyses to support decision making.
This position is expected to perform in a high-performing procurement team in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment, responsible for providing thought leadership and oversight on complex categories of spend. This position will perform duties associated with category management, including category definition, market intelligence, and development of supplier roadmaps and negotiation strategies. Fosters partnerships with suppliers and critical business stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for escalations pertaining to the facilitation of requirements, and contract drafting and negotiations.
Job Responsibilities:
Participate in strategic sourcing strategies, best practices, and initiatives that support purposeful improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance, and other areas as identified.
Assists in implementation of category sourcing strategies, including development and implementation of RFI’s and RFP’s, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers, develops selection criteria, and guides the selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams, conducts supplier negotiations, and ongoing supplier management.
Participates in streamlining business processes, researches and provides information and input on industry category trends and best practices. Provides procurement input to maximize procurement leverage, optimize project design, and minimize project durations and cost.
Assists in development of negotiation strategies, gains alignment from stakeholders, participates in cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implements appropriate supplier risk analysis. Capable of negotiating with suppliers that require a detailed strategic plan and have a direct correlation with the client operational needs and goals.
Works with operational supplier management teams to monitor supplier performance. Participates in strategic meetings with suppliers and business leaders to ensure follow-through of defined strategies. Ensures a day-to-day ongoing category supplier relationship and seeks out growth or revision opportunities within supply base. May act as the internal point of contact for supplier direction and complaint resolution, may conduct regular supplier meetings, and implement improvement strategies with suppliers. Creates, nurtures, and enhances supplier relationships.
Expected to contribute to team morale, motivation, and loyalty through continuous training and mentorship, and providing clear communication and constructive feedback.
Supports the team in identification of customer’s needs and development of refined requirements.
Executes Procurement & Support Services procurement practices, techniques, policies, and procedures across multiple business segments.
Leverages the procurement system and process adoption to help drive process efficiencies and reduce costs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience in financial analysis, business, supply chain, engineering, or Information Technology
2 years experience in financial analysis
Research and analytical skills
Ability to function in ambiguous and/or time-sensitive situations
PC skills with off-the-shelf analytical tools and software (e.g., Lotus Notes, MS products - Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
Verbal and written communication skills, including correct grammar, clear, concise, and appropriate word choice and tone
Listening and interpersonal skills
Experience working in teams
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
IT/BP outsourcing experience and/or sourcing experience, including the use of electronic sourcing tools
Project management and/or negotiation experience
Bachelor’s degree in business or technology
Presentation skills
Knowledge of client organization
Experience in contracting or working with AI, a plus
