Job Description
The Store Designer supports the delivery of retail store design packages for new, relocation, remodel, and special project initiatives across multiple brands. This role focuses on accurate, timely execution of approved design concepts, adapting established brand standards to site-specific conditions, and producing clean, complete documentation that supports permitting, procurement, and construction. Working alongside full-time Store Designers and Design Leadership, this role is accountable for on-time delivery, drawing accuracy, and disciplined adherence to standards and processes, rather than concept origination or standards authorship.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Documentation & Execution
Develop complete store design drawing packages based on approved brand conceptsand standards, including:
Floor plans and fixture plans
Interior elevations and storefront elevations
Finish and material applications per approved specifications
Apply brand standards consistently while adapting layouts to site conditions, landlord criteria, and jurisdictional constraints.
Generate clear, accurate, detailed drawing packages suitable for construction document development.
Project Review & Coordination
Review and interpret kickoff documentation including:
Tenant Design Criteria
Site surveys and as-built drawings
Landlord work letters
Code and jurisdictional requirements
Brand Operational and Financial Requirements
Coordinate with internal partners (A/E Coordination, Design Partners, Construction, Signage, R&D) to resolve design constraints efficiently.
Participate in scheduled plan reviews and working sessions as required.
Quality, Accuracy & Timeliness
Ensure all deliverables meet expectations for:
Accuracy (dimensioning, fixture tagging, consistency across sheets)
Completeness (no missing scopes or ambiguous information)
Timeliness (meeting established milestones and handoff dates)
Incorporate redlines, comments, and review feedback quickly and accurately.
Support document updates through DD and construction phases as needed.
Vendor & Consultant Support
Review vendor-produced documents and shop drawings for compliance with approved design intent and standards.
Provide design clarification to vendors, consultants, and internal teams as required.
Presentations & Communication
Assist in preparing design decks, sample boards and visuals for landlord, internal, or brand reviews when needed.
Communicate clearly and professionally with cross-functional partners, escalating issues appropriately.
Proactively identifying risks and communicating them to relevant parties.
SCOPE & ACCOUNTABILITY
Executes approved concepts and standards; does not own or author brand standards.
Supports delivery of projects on time, within defined scope, and with quality, under the direction of Design Leadership.
Works within established tools, templates, CAD standards, and workflows.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
3+ years of experience in retail store design and documentation
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Solid understanding of:
Retail construction practices and materials
Millwork, lighting and basic MEP coordination
ADA and building code fundamentals
Full construction document sets
Strong creative problem solving and time management skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in REVIT, 3D modeling and visualization skills
Prior experience working within large, multi-brand retail rollouts
Familiarity with standardized CAD and REVIT libraries, block/object management, and drawing protocols
