Position Summary
The Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing supply chain infrastructure, material flow processes, and operational systems that support manufacturing operations and strategic growth initiatives. This role will play a key role in the development and launch of a new external warehouse, including facility layout design, material flow development, equipment selection, process implementation, and overall project execution.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in warehouse and manufacturing environments, CAD-based design, material handling systems, facility layouts, and project management. This position requires a highly motivated engineer capable of managing complex projects from concept through implementation while coordinating vendors, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of supply chain infrastructure for new warehouse and operational projects.
Develop warehouse layouts, storage strategies, material flow concepts, receiving and replenishment processes, and operational standards.
Design and optimize material flow from receiving through point-of-use delivery to support efficiency, productivity, and inventory management objectives.
Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD layouts, drawings, equipment specifications, and facility designs.
Define material handling equipment requirements, including racking systems, storage solutions, forklifts, conveyors, AGVs, kitting equipment, and other warehouse infrastructure.
Develop project scopes, capital requests, equipment specifications, and procurement requirements.
Manage vendor selection, request for quotations (RFQs), bid evaluations, equipment purchases, and contract negotiations.
Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and operational startup activities.
Perform capacity analysis, space utilization studies, workflow optimization, and process simulations to support future growth.
Develop standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials.
Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure project milestones, budgets, and timelines are achieved.
Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, Facilities, IT, Quality, and Procurement teams to ensure operational readiness.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
Support production launches, facility expansions, warehouse transitions, and operational improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of Supply Chain Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or Process Engineering experience.
Proven experience designing and implementing warehouse layouts, material flow systems, and operational processes.
Extensive project management experience including vendor coordination, request for quotations (RFQs), capital equipment procurement, budgeting, and project execution.
Advanced proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, Revit, or similar design platforms.
Experience creating engineering layouts, facility designs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading new warehouse startup, expansion, or relocation projects.
Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and inventory management processes.
Experience with material handling equipment, storage systems, automation technologies, and warehouse design principles.
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
Automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing experience.
