Description : Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff RNResponsibilities: Assesses/reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients and applies the nursing process to:Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures/equipment• Pre and Post-Operative Care, i.e., general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, genitourinary, etc.• Pain Management• Chest Tube Care/Insertion• PEG, G-tube, J-tube care• Traction• Percutaneous, Sump, Jackson Pratt, or Hemovac drainage care• Medication Administration• NIH Stroke Scale• KODA• Access Central Lines• Specialized IV Drips and Titration• IV Therapy• IVADD• Waive Testing• Transfusion Therapy• Information ManagementAdditional Certifications Required or Preferred:• BLS Training Required• ACLS Training Preferred • Basic EKG training required within the first year with refresher course yearly Dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform activities which involve holding, positioning, manipulating, etc.Visual ability to monitor instruments, distinguish characters (letters, numbers, etc.), observe physical characteristics, etc.Involves hearing ability to recognize sounds, sound patterns and/or other auditory stimuli.Physical ability to react/respond quickly in emergencies, including life-threatening situations.Notes: Nights, 7p-7a, 48 hrs/wk, 10 weeksVIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
