Description
Verify and open a variety of databases to ensure files are open and systems are available to users. Monitor system, identify malfunctions, and initiate corrective action to maintain schedules to assure integrity of production files and output.
Operate computer to run production jobs and back-ups of primary systems scheduled in accordance with system operations instructions. Maintain and coordinate production schedules for all work processed on computer.
Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on personal computer hardware, software, printer, and network related problems; resolve issues related to communications, GIS map/data maintenance, or web page maintenance.
Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and administration of LAN/WAN.
Monitor the overall performance of the network operating systems and communications software; resolve problems, as required.
Diagnose and resolve problems regarding hardware, applications, network connectivity, and operating systems; dispatch service to provide advanced level support, as necessary.
Receive, enter, and track end user problems and resolutions; ensure appropriate problems are resolved within a timely manner; prepare status report of completed service items.
Assist in researching and evaluating new advances in personal computer hardware and software.
Assist in providing training for hardware, software, and/or applications. Assist in testing and maintaining computer hardware and software. Assist with the development of procedures.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other client employees, and the public using principles of good customer service. Observe and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with established safety programs and procedures.

Skills Required
Computer and related equipment maintenance. Server systems. Basic principles and techniques of computer systems analysis and programming.
Principles and practices of customer service. Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Ability to: Learn to troubleshoot, configure, perform simple repairs, and install computer and server hardware/software.
Document and maintain accurate computer records and procedures.
Maintain sensitive, confidential information according to legal standards and/or the client regulations, as required.
Learn to organize and manage assigned tasks and requests from customers. Assist in maintaining inventory of existing and newly acquired computer hardware and software.
Learn specialized functions, procedures, and technical support tasks related to the assignment. Read and understand job-related technical manuals.
Coordinate with customers to ensure successful completion of projects. Assist in obtaining information required for completion of projects.
Follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Experience Required
Six months of responsible computer related work experience including proficiency in related technology used by the client in the Help Desk, GIS, or Web functions.
Education Required
High School diploma or GED equivalency, supplemented by specialized training in subjects directly related to the Help Desk, GIS, or Web functions.
