Description:The client is seeking a motivated college student for a part-time Tax Accountant position that is primarily remote and based out of the client office. There would be occasional in-office presence in advance of key tax compliance deadlines. An ideal candidate would be available for full-time work in the summer months. The position requires a team player that is highly organized, responsive, extremely flexible, and can handle multiple projects while producing accurate and timely results.Essential Job Functions:Be willing to learn how to prepare Federal, State, and Local Income and Franchise Tax Returns, including collecting and analyzing financial data, calculating book/tax differences, and preparing supporting work papers.Facilitate deliverable exchanges between SMS and external service providers, one of which will be a heavy focus in the months of May-AugustBe willing to learn how to prepare the monthly tax provision.Interface with Accounting / Finance / Treasury and client tax employees concerning tax-related matters.Be willing to reconcile financial and tax accounts.Participate in special projects as assigned.Communicate orally and in writing with tax authorities.Gather documentation and provide analysis.Education/Qualifications:Working toward a B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance – rising junior preferredExperience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) required.Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat or comparable softwareSkills RequiredTop Must-Have:MS Office (Excel, Outlook)Adobe Acrobat ReaderNice-to-Have:Experience with tax softwareNotes:Hybrid (commute within 1 hour to office); part-time in-office 1–2 times/week, once a week in summer.Work Hours:During school: Part-time (16 hours/week)Summer: Full-timeVIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
