R&D Specialist II (mid-senior level)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The primary focus of this position is to facilitate global trade and help ensure compliance with customs regimes and various other client regulations. The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst must exhibit strong research and analytical skills, often being asked to interpret import and export regulations. This position typically requires 7+ years of experience in trade compliance or an importer/exporter environment, with a deep understanding of complex regulations (like EAR and OFAC) and often requires cross-functional leadership.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Provide remote trade compliance guidance and import/export transaction support to Regional ITCRs across multiple business functions.
Serve as point of contact for internal trade compliance questions from logistics, procurement, and project teams.
Act as subject matter expert for U.S. trade compliance (Customs, Import/Export, Export Controls)
Perform and validate HTS classification and country of origin determinations for all relevant equipment and products.
Ensure compliant import and export transactions in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other applicable authorities
Support duty, tax, and fee calculations, including preferential trade programs where applicable
Manage, oversee and evaluate customs brokers and service providers in the U.S
Perform Export Control and Dual Use compliance, including license determinations where applicable.
Perform compliance review of import, export documentation for international shipments
Supporting other Compliance Department activities as assigned.

Strong analytical and database management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to interact effectively at all levels
Proven organizational and management skills
Knowledgeable on import requirements, Code of Federal Regulations Title 19, ACE, HTS classification, and Participating Government Agencies regulations

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related discipline or equivalent experience and/or a minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in international operations, import or exports, and/or customs brokerage.
Compliance Specialist (CCS) certification is a plus.
