Description:Veterinary TechnicianDirectly responsible for enforcement of client Revised Statutes 5-105 (A) and client Racing Commission rules and regulations to ensure that collection of samples from Animal is performed properly and with integrity.Major Responsibilities:Assist in collection of test samples (blood, urine and hair) from animal.Follow best practices for test barn operations to ensure proper handling of test samples to maintain the chain of custody. Maintain chain of custody records. Package and ship samples securely to test laboratory. Maintain lab area organization and cleanlinessKeep veterinary exam records and gather injury risk information for animal inspections, assist with injury review meetingsEnforce client statutes and regulations regarding horse racing and report any violations to the client Veterinarian or Stewards.Assist client veterinarian with split sample processingAssist investigators with inspections of backside barn facilities for possible violationsNotify trainers when animals are placed on the veterinarian’s list.
