Position Overview


The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal and plastic components according to engineering specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, quality standards, and safety procedures to ensure high-quality production and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC machine programs as needed.
Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine attachments.
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate production and quality records.
Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Collaborate with engineers, quality personnel, and production teams to meet manufacturing goals.

Essential Requirements of the Role
Requirements below are "nice to have" but not required. Open to very entry level candidates.
Technical training, vocational certification, or apprenticeship in machining.
1+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
Experience with CNC programming and machine setup.
Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Attributes
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to operate machinery and inspect parts.

Soft Skills
Reliable and willing to learn

Tools or Software
precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.

Education
High School Diploma or GED

Special Equipment Required
Safety boots and prescription safety glasses

Notes:
6:00am to 4:00pm Monday - Friday (OT on weekends as needed) Can work up to 12 hours per day as need
