JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview
The Senior Systems Engineer Contractor leads the technical design and validation of client solutions supporting national financial services and external organizations. This role manages technical labs, ensuring environments(hardware and software) remain current, secure, and ready for testing, validation, and certification activities. The position requires advanced technical expertise, strong leadership in cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive process improvements while maintaining compliance with client security standards. Ability to quickly triage major issues within application flows is vital.
Responsibilities
Technical Design & Validation
o Lead design and validation of client solutions.
o Identify gaps between current and future states; develop solutions to close those gaps.
o Design and execute customer validation tests, including detailed test plans and use cases aligned with security and compliance standards.
Lab Management
o Oversee technical labs to maintain currency with evolving technologies.
o Ensure readiness for testing, validation, and certification activities.
Testing & Analysis
o Coordinate technical and end-user resources to execute tests and analyze results.
o Document findings, communicate issues, and provide timelines to stakeholders.
o Assess labor and technical skill sets required for testing activities.
Operational Support
o Implement customer-side monitoring tools.
o Lead operational outage events and manage complex customer problem resolution.
o Drive process improvement efforts for client channels.
Performance & Standards
o Analyze FedLine solutions for performance and cost optimization.
o Develop and maintain client standards; monitor SLA targets and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field (graduate degree preferred).
Experience:
o 5–7+ years of direct technical work experience, including 2+ years in leadership roles within complex organizations.
Technical Expertise:
o Proficiency in PKI, LDAP, networking, routers, firewalls, middleware (Sterling Connect:Direct, IBM MQ, SecureTransport), proxy solutions (Sterling Secure Proxy, Tivoli Access Manager), and client-side technologies (Axway SecureClient).
o Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Unix/Linux, Solaris).
Skills
Advanced knowledge of IT testing methodologies, infrastructure and integration testing.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong background in production systems 24/7 x 365 support
Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
