Description:Position OverviewThe Test Engineer’s primary responsibilities include system-wide testing, product-oriented testing, expanding knowledge and capabilities in areas pertinent to System Test activities, and collaborating with Development teams for release quality and timely response to customer problems. The Test Engineer contributes to the resolution of customer problems by investigating reported issues and working with Development teams to resolve those issues, helping to maintain the reputation of the client and our products. This position reports to the team manager of the System Test team, which operates within the global Factory Automation (FA) Domain, Systems, and Platforms (DSP) structure and collaborates with other System Test teams in Germany and China.Key ResponsibilitiesWork together with fellow System Test team members to define and execute system-wide and product-oriented test cases based on customer scenarios and workflowsInvestigate customer problem reports with the goal of reproducing issues and working with Development teams on problem resolutionRecord test results in test management systemDocument test proceduresReport status to System Test team managerInterface with the System Test team manager to know the current backlog and plans for upcoming projectsSupport Development teams with test assistance/consultation as requestedDevelop productive relationships and maintain connections with customer-facing colleaguesComply with the established processes within FA and local R&DPropose and implement continuous improvements to process, test coverage, and test assetsAutomate tests where possible to improve test efficiencyRequirementsBS or MS degree in engineering, software development, or other relevant technical field2+ years of experience in relevant technical fields (e.g., application engineering, hardware or software development, or testing)Knowledgeable in industrial automation products and applicationsSelf-motivated and results-oriented with proven problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal and teamwork skillsAble to interface with customer-facing colleagues to understand user workflows and applicationsAbility to interact productively with colleagues at all levelsExcellent collaboration skills in a global development environmentClear written and verbal communicationsLimited domestic and international travel (?5%)Preferred SkillsUnderstanding of the product development process and overall product lifecycleFamiliarity with agile methodologiesFamiliarity with test methodologies and best practicesKnowledge of industrial automation topics such as OPC UA, HMI, Industrial Communication, PROFINETExperience with LAD, SCL, or similar PLC programming languagesExperience with C# or similar programming languagesExperience with Industrial Safety (Failsafe PLC’s, Profisafe Communication, etc.)Knowledge of test frameworks (NUnit, MSTest, etc.) and source control solutions (Git, TFS, etc.)Notes:OnSiteHours of the Shift: full-time (8-9am to 4-5pm) VIVA is an equal opportunity employer.
